Will your wheels still be legal in 2020?

Road safety has cropped up into the media once more, as the government revisits their plans on banning the use of tyres aged 10 years and older. This, after a passionate campaign by a parent, whose son was a victim to a coach crash in 2012 resulting from the use of a 19-year-old tyre. Following the latest bout of discussions, it is said that these laws could be enforced by early 2020.

With the law once again in discussion, the subjects of these new regulations are also being revisited. With heavy goods vehicles, trailers, buses, coaches and minibuses in the limelight, the possibility of extending this to include both taxis and private hire vehicles is also being debated. Needless to say, as we witness how the law progresses, we are expecting considerably safer roads in the UK.

Whilst there is so much attention on road safety, specifically regarding the wheels of commercial vehicles, another topic of importance is the quality of the wheel nuts themselves. At Checkpoint, we are proud to provide drivers with a range of intelligent safety solutions to ensure their wheel nuts are tight and secure.

With products available for indicating and retaining against the unwanted movement of wheel nuts, in addition to maintenance and security options, you can be certain that we put safety into motion. Visit our Products page for the full Checkpoint safety range.
